Abstract

An optimization approach has been developed to aid decision making in real time for deficit irrigation when conflict between water supply and demand arises in a multiple crop irrigation scheme. The result is the optimal allocation of short- term supply of irrigation water. The optimization approach is based on Dynamic Programming. In the optimization approach, the short-term supply is optimized in function of a specified strategy determined by the user. The strategies that the user can select from are: maximum revenue, equitable maximum yield and maintaining equity in the system. The potential of the approach has been assessed through application of the mode
