Abstract

A mesoscale simulation system Meso-NH-C is presented allowing for on line coupling between dynamics and chemistry. Further advantages of this sys- tem lie in high vertical resolution, nesting/spawning capabilities and a full set of parametrization schemes. This system is applied to the 9 to 11 Au- gust, 1997 episode of a one-month pollution episode over Western Europe. For this episode, a two-scale analysis has been performed, at the European scale and at regional scale (Greater Paris area). The potentialities of such a modelling system have been emphasized, particularly as regards evaluation of the transboundary fluxes. 1 Introduction Up to now, much attention has been devoted to urban air pollution.
