Abstract

This research will take Taiwan area as a demonstration example. It is based upon the principles of the well-know Sustainable Development indicator systems. It is also based upon the characteristics of the officially announced existing indicator data of Taiwan area during 1987 and 1996, then to apply the factor analysis method to induce the comprehensive indicators of each assessment level. Its methodology may be summarized in the following steps : related literatures review and data collection, definition of the indicator and the assessment level structure, data analysis and pre-treatment, factor analysis, transformation to Normal Curve index values.
