Abstract

In this paper we use grey relation analysis to examine the interrelationships among energy-induced COz emission, production and energy consumption of 34 industries in Taiwan during 1981-1994, and to identify key factors affecting emission changes. Results indicate that production has the largest relation with CO] emissions, and electricity consumption is second. We further classify the industries into eight types according to relational grades of their production and the total energy factors, and find that the aggregate CO] intensities reduced slightly. This was mainly due to substantial reductions of energy intensity in some major CO: emission sources. 1 Introduction Over the past few decades, Taiwan has achieved substantial
