Abstract

This work is concerned with the modelling and numerical simulation of oil slick behavior and movement in coastal seas. It is one of the subprojects of a greater effort for the creation of an official manual for organizing protection and cleaning activities, in the case of the accidental occurrence of oil spills. Besides presenting a model, acceptable simplifications are discussed, and an algorithm is presented for numerical approximation and computational simulations in the Sao Sebastiao Channel region, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 1 Introduction Some years ago, during a Brazilian Symposium on the Management of Coastal Ecosystems, a group was formed to study the creation of a manual with directions of necessary actions in the case of a co
