Abstract

This paper provides the first comparative assessment of air quality management practices in Hong Kong and metropolitan areas of the UK. In particular, it will compare the experiences of the Hong Kong and Greater Manchester authorities in managing urban air quality. Hong Kong has started to establish a management system for the control and minimisation of air pollution. A variety of techniques, including monitoring and assessment studies, land use planning and anticipatory pollution prevention initiatives
