Abstract

A analysis based on the Fourier method is introduced which allows the determination of threshold values using environmental epidemiologic data and time-correlated air pollution measurements. At the basis are a series of temporally, highly resolved measurements of the indicator variable SC^, thus, eleminating time-dependent confounding variables and temporal inhomogeneitis. The SCVseries, resulting from this procedure, are compared with daily acute respiratory morbidity data of the Mobile Emergency Unit. The study design and application of the developed statistical method allowed the determination of a dose-response curve for children and adults.
