Abstract

The influence of the spatial resolution of emission inventories on the dis- tribution of air pollutant concentrations is investigated using the mesoscale dispersion model DRAIS. Two simulations are carried out which differ solely by the spatial resolution of the emission inventory of 80 km and 5 km, re- spectively. Mainly, the resolution of the emissions effects the concentration dis- tribution of those pollutants which are emitted. As example NO is consid- ered. During the night and the morning hours the NO concentrations are much higher around the locations of the major sources and in the plumes ermerging from these sources if the inventory with the 5 km resolution is used.
