Abstract

This paper reports on hot-wire measurements of a heated air jet issuing in a cross wind. The flow studied simulates outfalls and accidental pollutant releases in the atmosphere. All statistical parameters of the simulated pollutant concentration were found to be self-similar. Turbulent transport terms of the flow field were directly measured, providing support to numerical modellers.
