Free surface flows including fluid viscosity is a challenging field of research. Its development faces the fact that inviscid theory is now reaching a mature stage. This monograph gives a representative picture of the current basic research on viscous free surface flows. New analytical methods and numerical techniques are presented, partly in combination with experiments. Reviews are given of the established literature on viscous ocean waves and fluid films.
