Abstract

This paper describes a daily power generation planner of a small run-of-river hydroelectric station that has been implemented with a knowledge expert system. The system is used to help plant operator to determine the on-off periods of each generator unit, when due to minimum river flow conditions it is necessary to fill the small reservoir in dry seasons. The main objective is to obtain the highest economic exploitation of the available water taking into account the different prices of the electric power during the day. The application has been developed using a commercial expert-system tool. 1 Introduction Knowledge-base
