Abstract

Hydrodynamic method of reduction of wave forces for ice-resistant floating platform S.L. Karlinsky & V.O. Mrykin SOE "Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering "Rubin", Russia. Abstract Hydrodynamic analysis of an ice-resistant floating tension tethers platform structure as applied to wave influence as well as to an ice environment is presented. This task is currently a pressing problem for the Russian Offshore due to its varying severe season conditions. The principal difficulties arise from a determination of the basic design task: how to provide a resistance of the structure on a floating foundation both to wave and ice loads. The last requirement dictates a selection of a structure type and structure cost. The usage of peculiarities of the floating structure such as a cone near a waterline (to perform an ice resistance ability) and a vertical lengthy hull, enables a designer to reduce wave loads. The wave exciting vertical force and overturning moment may be reduced considerably by the p
