Abstract

The 1992-1996 programme of work in artificial intelligence at ESTEC F. Allard ESTEC/WGS Aramiihs, 31 Rue des Cosmonautes, Z.I. Du Palays 31077, Toulouse Cedex, France 1. THE EXPERT SYSTEM DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMME 1.1 Objectives The Expert System Demonstration Programme was conceived in order: to reach the following objectives : . demonstrate the benefits of Artifical Intelligence and Knowledge-Based Systems technology, in particular to the In-orbit-Infrastructure programmes (Columbus, Hermes, Ariane V); . ensuring the mastering of a strategic technology with ESA; . begin addressing strategic objectives where AI and KBS technology may contribute. These objectives entail also the ESDP programme cannot be a technology development or research programme and hence that practical applications have to be the end result.
