Abstract

In this paper, the problem of dam-break flood wave propagation in non- prismatic channels has been analyzed. The aim was to verify if the De Saint Venant one-dimensional equations expressed in the divergent form and numerically integrated with the TVD-MacCormack scheme were suitable for the description of the phenomenon. The computational scheme was employed for the simulation of some dam-break laboratory tests in channel transitions reported in the literature. 1 Introduction The current trend in computational hydraulics is to resort to computational schemes able to treat very accurately both gradually varied and rapidly varied flows. They can be applied to unsteady open channel flow equations expressed in the conservative form, and they themselves are called conservative schemes. A family of classic conservative numerical schemes often applied to unsteady flow pro
