Abstract

The simulation of reservoir operation is usually employed to forecast the rate of discharge for power production with regard to the inflows, while at the same time the minimization of reservoir overflow or shortage is requested. A computer model is developed in basic programming language to assist the reservoir-operation designers to plan the operation in case of scheduled emptying of the reservoir for dam inspection. Application of the model determines the amount of water to be discharged in the year in advance of the scheduled-emptying year, and the expected variation of the reservoir level and discharge are forecasted in detail on a daily basis. 1 Introduction In the dam safety regulations of most countries it is necessary the reservoir
