Abstract
The development of a new CCGT Power Station at Pembroke, West Wales, required the installation of a behavioural fish deterrent system. The design factors influencing the selection of the most appropriate system are discussed, with reference to the Pembroke development, and the key components of the combined SILAS® acoustic and high intensity light system that was supplied are described. Results of the acoustic PrISM modelling carried out to determine the optimum configuration of the sound projectors are presented, along with analysis demonstrating that the system will not adversely impact wildlife migration in the vicinity of the intake. Keywords: behavioural fish deterrent system, power station, SILAS®, sound projector, High Intensity Light, PrISM modelling, migration.
