Abstract

The paper is a report of the research made to model the passenger demand from Tehran to the cities in the Southern Railway line of Iran, and from Ahwaz at the South to the same cities including Tehran. The final acceptable model was the exponential form with independent variables as the population and income level at the origin cities, the ticket price and the index of recreation and education in the destination cities. The calibrated models show that the origin population and the recreation-educational index of the destination are the first and second most effective parameters.
