Abstract

Environmental impacts of sites contaminated with explosives have raised considerable concerns in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Assessment of risks and cleanup of these sites are required for protection of human health and the environment. Monitored natural attenuation (MNA) is a potential and costeffective remedial alternative for explosives-contaminated groundwater at sites where a decline in contaminant mass can be demonstrated to occur at a rate sufficient to ensure the protection of potential receptors. The objective of this study was to provide a technical basis for a systematic measuring strategy for natural attenuation at sites contaminated wit
