Abstract

Reactions Between NOs and Monoalkenes: Experiments and Correlations A contribution to subproject CMD P. Biggs, CE Canosa-Mas, MD King, P. Scarr, K. Thompson and R.P. Introduction This abstract summarises three linked pieces of work: (a) Rate coefficients for the reactions between the NCb radical and 1-pentene, 1-hexene, 1-heptene and the sesquiterpene, isolongifolene. (b) Correlations between the logarithm of the rate constants and the calculated HOMO energies for reactions of NOs, OH and Os with a series of monoalkenes. (c) Predicted rate constants (and their corresponding lifetimes) for reactions between NOs, OH and Os and some important biogenic monoalkenes (sesquiterpenes).
