Abstract

A 2D numerical wave propagation model in the intermediate and shallow water is developed. It examines the influence of the nearshore phenomena, as refraction, diffraction, breaking and shoaling on propagating wave. The basic equations for the development of the model are the wave conservation equation and the wave number irrotationality equation. The wave energy equation is also used, as wave generation and wave dissipation terms are taken into consideration. The results of the model are compared to experimental data (Ito and Tanimoto,H) and useful conclusions are extracted. 1. Introduction A non steady wave propagation model is presented.
