Abstract

The studies made in the higher subalpine forests of Karkonosze (West Sudety Mts) proved that the bioindicative qualities of titanium, vanadium and lanthanum can be usefully employed for stating the industrial pollution concentration emitted by coal power stations. During the SOties large area has been affected by an ecological disaster caused by industrial pollution which resulted in the damage of 70% of trees. The soil and plant content of titanium, vanadium and lanthanum has been measured in: mosses - Polytricum commune and Sphagnum squarrosum, epiphytic lichens - Hypogymnia physodes and Pseudevernia furfuracea and in spruce needles - Picea abies.The titanium, vanadium and lanthanum enrichment ratios have been calculated in the studied
