Abstract

Dispersion of a neutral tracer above a urban area in Grenoble (France) is studied with a large eddy simulation (LES) of atmospheric flows under con- ditions of steady wind. The complex terrain with surrounding mountains is taken into account with a computational domain whose extension is 23Km x 25Km x 15Km. The tracer is emitted from a non-buoyant point source and transported by a quasi steady wind coming from north west direction. The results are compared with data obtained from an experiment with a three hours steady release of SFe on June 15th, 1995. A good agreement is observed for tracer dilution when comparing calculated and observed val- ues of CTA (Atmospheric Transfer Coef
