In the last few decades there has been increasing recognition and interest in evaluating air pollution problems over mesoscale and synoptic-scale. In particular, the most serious problems of our atmospheric environment at mesoscale, such as urban air pollution and the behaviour of urban scale plumes downwind of large industrialized cities, regional haze, photochemical smog, acidic precipitation, accidental toxic gas and radioactive releases, and stratospheric ozone depletion have received tremendous public attention.

This monograph presents a collection of invited review papers covering this complex phenomenon. All the contributions have been written by leading scientists in the field and provide the reader with organized and consistent discussions on different aspects of mesoscale atmospheric dispersion.
