This book contains the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Mobile and Rapidly Assembled Structures, which was held in Seville, Spain, June 17-19, 1996. This multi-disciplinary meeting brought together the designers of telescopic masts, radio telescopes, radar dishes and similar mobile structures from the world of telecommunications; the analysts of mobile cranes, tower cranes, scaffolding, grandstands and fairground structures from the construction industry; military engineers concerned with transportable bridges, protective structures, trackways, containers and boars; and the researchers into the world of air structures, sails, inflated structures and parachutes. The conference attracted military, civil, naval and aeronautical engineers with a common interest in the mobility and assembly of cost-effective structures.
