Waste generation is rapidly becoming one of the key problems of the modern world, due to the increasing waste generation rate as well as the complexity of waste composition. Damage to the environment caused by poor waste management can be avoided by implementing environmentally sensitive waste management techniques. Nevertheless, regardless of size, economic resources, or culture, every community must establish and maintain waste management systems that are appropriate and affordable.

This book contains papers presented at the Fourth International Conference on Waste Management and the Environment , which provides a forum for the exchange of scientific information regarding the experiences and views on the current situation of waste management.
